Awareness, Responsibility

Imagine a sink with no drainage whatsoever. With the tap water running continuously, realising that it will soon overflow, you took out a plastic straw and started drinking the water out. Will it make difference?

Global Warming is the environmental challenge that most concerns me. I believe that the different ways to encounter this challenge will also be helpful to combat some other challenges. Example: to prevent global warming we need to preserve the forest, saving different animal species from extinction. Is my belief that education is the key to fight against climate change. And, since so many adults and children are invest so much time using Play Station, my idea is to take advantage of it to make them aware of the situation and solutions. I suggest to use PlayStation as the mean to achieve environmental education. To create a range of games challenging users to create strategies to fight against climate change. These strategies should be followed by missions so the strategy can be executed.

Air Pollution

Motor vehicles are the world’s largest source of air polution, which causes 30,000-60,000 premature deaths a year in the US according to the EPA. This is a waste of life from a very preventable cause.

The Green Grid

Energy. It is one big issue, and if we think about reality as nothing more than energy conversions between objects, it is something that affects us all. What worries me is that because of consumerism, for the sake of a capitalist economy & money (which equates to nothing more than trust on paper) we will end up teaching our kids lies & that this will hinder them in being able to innovate technology wisely, for the sake of future needs.

Fund Raising- Ecosia

We all know that Google is making quite a lot of money from advertising. The idea is simply to steer the money generated towards ecological development. Ecosia.org is doing through their website that gives search result from google. In the end, you have the quality of Bing with the benefit of sending money to the right purpose

Beyond the Automobile. Making Public Transportation the most convenient mode of transportation

Public transportation Technology can help facilitate a new approach to the design of sustainable lifestyles. There are many ways that Sony products can be implemented in the Public Transportation system. Improving the way public transportation systems operate, and how information is given to its passengers, can become on of the greatest opportunities for Change, Globally. As many developing countries expand and grow, and larger populations gain excess to wealth, the need for convenient and appealing Public Transportation will become critical. We must find a way to change the face of travel and break away from the idea of the individual automobile.

Zoom in on the lost connection

I think mankind must strip its behaviour to the bone and start from scratch to give our planet Earth a chance. A chance to heal and recover and to furthermore feed and house all animal and plant life. This inspiration is about motivating and helping people to change their attitudes, by giving them something in return. A treasure which we in our "modern" world lost so long ago that more and more people forget they have a right to it. We have been so busy trying to fill up the hole of this loss with rubbish, that we forgot what all that rubbish was meant to replace. I trust that much of our desperate hunt on much, new, big, beautiful, rich, luxury, expensive etcetera is an attempt to replace the lost connection with Mother Earth and Father Sun.

Redesign public transportation and services!

I am most concerned with the idea of public transportation within a city or town. I live in Savannah, Georgia right now and I can see, first hand, how much potential is out there for a more efficient system to be developed.

IntelliHome & SmartGrid: Technology for Energy Efficiency and Convenience at Home 'n Everywhere

The apathy of the people towards conservation of energy resource and unbridled energy expenditure is the major folly in the environmental sustainability and the biggest of all the environmental challenge. If environment can be saved by minor tinkering of notion, belief and attitude, then it is criminal waste to not to try stem out this malaise.

Reuse books by setting them free

Many bookshelves in many rooms are stocked with books that either have been read, or are still to be read. And when the owner moves house, many of them will find their way to waste sites. Not with Book Crossing. When you have read a book, you register it (and put a label with a unique code in it) and then release it in the wild, for another reader to find it.

An important concern is how forests resources are being used. The misuse affects the whole globe, and from the weather to affect the extinction of species. Why can not we use forests resources in a sustainable way, in our favor?

How many ears must one person have...

Climate Change will affect absolutely everyone on the planet - we can't afford to stick our heads in the sand and pretend it's not happening. But if we put all of our heads together, we might be able to find a solution.

Integrating Nature in our lives: Water

Our dependence on fossil fuels affects the environment a great deal; there are other better alternatives out there. It is true that renewable energy has gone a long way, but there are better ways in which to incorporate them to our lives; to make them more efficient, as well as to integrate them to existing widely-used technologies and advancements.

Solar energy as source of electrical energy and income for low-income populations.

The environmental challenge that concerns me more is the growing demand for electricity. In growing populous countries like Brazil in which public policies and technological advances have allowed people with lower incomes more access to appliances, electricity demand tends to increase rather than population size. Photovoltaic solar energy can be used both to satisfy such demands and in the case of surplus be returned to the grid and be an additional source of income.

I can see garbage on the streets, I can see trees cut, water poisoned by chemicals. And people don't care. They think someone else will do it, not us. They will die soon and we don't think of future generations. They have other problems to solve now: economic crises, high prices on real estate or whatever can be. But they never look around and they will never see that mess that people made on our planet. While scientists think how to prevent the climate change, stop the emission of GHG, we should think about the world that surrounds us right now, teach children how to take care of environment and learn ourselves how to take care of it, because in comparison to the world population only a very small percent does appreciate the nature.
